Waypoints Outreach Team, in partnership with Justin Slade Youth Foundation, will lead a self-care workshop focused on mental wellness, self-care, and building healthy habits. Youth ages 12-17 are welcome to join at 5:00 PM for open conversations, calming activities, and practical tools to support everyday wellness.

FVPM Hip Hop Dance Workshop
Join us for a high-energy hip hop dance workshop led by our Public Awareness and Training Facilitator, Dominic, who brings 18 years of experience and training across hip hop, tap, jazz, and lyrical dance genres.
The workshop is split into two age-appropriate sections: 5:00 – 6:30 pm for children ages 6–14, and 6:30 – 8:00 pm for youth and adults ages 14 and up.
Participants will have the opportunity to move, express themselves, and engage in a fun, inclusive environment while raising awareness and celebrating Family Violence Prevention Month. This session combines physical activity with community engagement in a supportive and empowering setting.

Waypoints will be at Montessori Day Care, hosting a full day of age-appropriate workshops and activities, including creating “Kindness Trees.”
Children will engage in creative exercises designed to promote empathy, respect, and awareness.

Our Outreach team is traveling to Janvier to host a Self Care Workshop in recognition of Family Violence Prevention Month. The session will offer practical tools, hands-on activities, and supportive strategies to help participants build resilience, manage stress, and strengthen personal well-being while raising awareness about preventing family violence in the community.

Our Outreach team travels to Fort McKay for a Lunch and Learn between 11:30 am - 1:30 pm, focused on healthy relationships and navigating online dating safely. Participants will have the chance to engage with practical tips, ask questions, and explore ways to build respectful, safe connections.
Alongside the session, Waypoints will host an information booth from 11 am to 4 pm, offering resources, guidance, and insights into programs available to support individuals and families impacted by family violence.

Waypoints will be at Anzac Recreation Centre with an information booth sharing resources, support, and materials focused on family violence prevention. Visitors can connect with staff and learn about programs available in the community, gaining insight into how Waypoints supports individuals and families affected by family violence.
SPCA ASH Program Awareness Walk
Our Waypoints team will participate in an SPCA Walk to showcase the Animal Safe Haven Program, which supports individuals and families experiencing domestic, family, and/or sexual violence by providing temporary safe spaces for their pets while impacted individuals are staying in shelters.
This initiative ensures no one has to choose between safety and caring for their companion animals. See how Waypoints and our local SPCA have partnered to extend care beyond people to include animals in crisis.
FVPM: Take Back The Night Awareness Walk
Join Waypoints for our annual Take Back the Night Awareness walk, starting at 9917 Fraser Avenue, to stand in solidarity with individuals and families impacted by domestic, family, and/or sexual violence.
This community walk combines awareness, connection, and empowerment in an uplifting evening that highlights resilience, hope, and the shared commitment to safer spaces.
Participants can light the way together, share stories, and celebrate the power of community action as they walk in a supportive environment.

On Purple Day, we invite the community to wear purple as a visible show of support for Family Violence Prevention Month. This simple act of solidarity raises awareness about the impact of domestic and family violence and signals to survivors that they are seen and supported.
Purple Day is an opportunity to reflect on the importance of prevention, connect with available resources, and start conversations that challenge harmful behaviors. Join us in amplifying awareness and demonstrating that ending family violence requires a community-wide effort.
