Family Safety Day
Waypoints will be hosting an information booth at the 27th Annual Family Safety Day, hosted by Safe Community Wood Buffalo at MacDonald Island Park (curling surface) on Friday, June 27th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Family Safety Day will feature a range of family friendly activities and demonstrations, including face painting, balloon twisting, games, a bike safety course, a bike decorating station, safety demonstrations, and community resources.
Waypoints will be onsite with information about programs and services, including supports related to domestic, family, and sexual violence. Visitors are welcome to stop by to learn more, pick up resources, and ask questions about available supports across the region.

Pride Information Booth
Waypoints will be attending Wood Buffalo Pride’s Pride Fair event at Heritage Village (1 Tolen Drive) on Friday, June 20th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, hosting an information booth throughout the afternoon.
Attendees are invited to stop by to learn more about available programs, services, and resources offered through Waypoints. Information will be available on supports focused on safety, healing, and prevention related to domestic, family, and sexual violence, along with pathways to access services across our organization.
Our team will be available to share information, respond to questions, and provide resources in a welcoming and inclusive space.

Fort McKay Treaty Days
Waypoints will be volunteering at Fort McKay Treaty Days on Thursday, June 19th, supporting lunch and dinner meal service during this multi day community celebration.
Fort McKay Treaty Days brings together cultural programming, community gatherings, and family friendly activities that highlight Indigenous traditions and regional partnerships. Events throughout the weekend include a parade, Grand Entry and Opening Ceremonies, Cultural Village experiences, Round Dance, traditional foods, and a Déne Hand Games tournament, along with evening entertainment and a fireworks display.

Information Booth at Nistawoyou Friendship Centre
Waypoints will be attending the 2nd Annual Blue Jean Jacket Day event on Friday, June 6th. Hosted by Nistawoyou Association Friendship Centre in partnership with Athabasca Tribal Council and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, the event invites community members to come together in remembrance and recognition.
Launched in Edmonton in 2023, Blue Jean Jacket Day raises awareness of Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Men and Boys and recognizes the families and communities impacted by their loss.
Visitors are welcome to stop by our booth to learn more about our programs, services, and resources, and to connect with members of our team.

Grill, Gather & Grow with Waypoints during Sexual Violence Awareness Month on May 29th from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kiyām Community Park.
The event begins with an Elder’s prayer at 10:00 AM, followed by free food served at 11:00 AM. Community partners will also be onsite with information booths, sharing local programs, services, and supports.

Red Dress Solidarity Walk
Waypoints will be attending the Red Dress Solidarity Walk hosted by Athabasca Tribal Council and the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo at Kiyām Community Park in Fort McMurray, Treaty 8 Territory on Tuesday, May 5th, 2026.
May 5th is recognized as Red Dress Day, the National Day for Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two Spirit Plus people. This day calls attention to the ongoing systemic violence impacting Indigenous Peoples across Canada. It also aligns with broader recognition of Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Peoples (MMEIP), reflecting the lived and intergenerational impacts experienced within communities.
The walk is centred on honouring families and survivors, while creating space to remember, seek justice, and raise awareness about ongoing violence impacting Indigenous communities across the region and throughout Canada. It also reflects the importance of listening, learning, and showing up with care and responsibility.
This is a space for remembrance, reflection, and connection. All community members are welcome to attend and walk in solidarity. Please note the gathering begins at 12:00 pm with prayers and connection remarks, followed by the walk from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
