Second Stage Women’s Shelter

Second Stage Shelter provides female-identifying individuals, with or without children, who are leaving abusive relationships with subsidized apartments for up to two years. We offer enhanced security, ongoing programs, and supportive services surrounding violence and abuse.

The program has 13 subsidized shelter units that are short-term term up to 24 months. Second Stage Shelter is considered the next step in a continuum of services to support female-identifying individuals and their children in living a life free of violence, moving from an abusive, unsafe environment into safe, independent living.

During your time at Second Stage Shelter, the support workers will work with you to determine what your service plan looks like. This includes conducting danger assessments, helping with safety planning, and assisting with goal setting. They will also ensure access to the on-site Child Development Centre and its services. Additionally, they offer individual and group support sessions, along with free trauma counseling for any children over 3 years old.
