Sexual Violence Awareness Month

  • Waypoints Community Services Association 100-130 Prospect Dr Fort McMurray Canada (map)

Sexual Violence Awareness Month creates space to increase understanding of how widespread sexual violence is, the lasting impact it can have, and the pathways available for healing and connection. We are focused on building a community where people feel safe accessing services, exploring options, and moving forward at their own pace.

This year’s theme, “Honouring the Past and Stepping Forward United”, reflects both reflection and progress as we continue working toward safer environments and responsive care across our region.

This is a time to elevate conversations that are sometimes avoided. It encourages learning, challenges harmful assumptions, and reinforces shared responsibility in preventing violence. A series of awareness initiatives are being offered to share information, strengthen community knowledge, and encourage action in ways that feel accessible and respectful.

We stand alongside those who have experienced harm and remain committed to creating conditions where people can reach out without fear, connect to services, and be met with understanding. Our Sexual Trauma Support Services are available for individuals seeking information, guidance, or ongoing care. Support can be accessed at any stage and in a way that respects each person’s pace and choices.
