Blue Jean Jacket Day

  • Waypoints Community Services Association 100-130 Prospect Dr Fort McMurray Canada (map)

Waypoints recognizes Blue Jean Jacket Day as a time to honour the lives of Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Men and Boys and to acknowledge the ongoing impacts their loss has on families, communities, and Nations across Canada.

Launched in Edmonton on June 6th, 2023, Blue Jean Jacket Day is a community led awareness campaign that brings attention to the violence, disappearances, and systemic challenges experienced by Indigenous men and boys. The initiative encourages reflection, education, and dialogue while amplifying voices that have often been underrepresented in conversations about Missing, Murdered, and Exploited Indigenous Peoples.

The blue jean jacket serves as a symbol of remembrance, solidarity, and a shared commitment to recognizing the lives and stories of Indigenous men and boys. It also provides an opportunity to learn more about the experiences of affected families and communities, and the importance of culturally informed responses that support healing and justice.

By observing Blue Jean Jacket Day, we acknowledge the significance of every life lost and the ongoing efforts to advance awareness, understanding, and meaningful action.
