Waypoints envisions a community free of family, domestic and sexual violence and abuse. Our programs and services provide support, education, and information to the community, focusing on the prevention, intervention and healing from violence and abuse.

Together, we can all make a difference.

Unity House Emergency Shelter

Unity House Emergency Shelter offers a safe place for adult female identifying individuals with or without children that are fleeing interpersonal violence for up to 21 days.

Our Crisis Workers are available 24 hours a day to answer crisis calls on the Family Violence Crisis Line including options like accessing the shelter, as well as to provide emotional support, education and referrals to residents of the shelter.

Second Stage Women’s Shelter

Second Stage Shelter provides women and women with children that are leaving abusive relationships with subsidized apartments for up to 2 years. We provide additional security, ongoing programs and support around violence and abuse.

Second Stage Shelter is considered the next step in a continuum of services to support women and their children in living a life free of violence, moving from an abusive, unsafe environment into safe independent living.

Child & Youth Advocacy Centre

The Child and Youth Advocacy Centre (CYAC) is a Wood Buffalo Regional partnership. It serves children and youth, ages 3 years to 17 years, and their family members who have witnessed or experienced violence or abuse. Partners include the RCMP, Victim Services, Child and Family Services, Athabasca Tribal Council, and Waypoints.

This partnership allows us to provide wrap-around services with a trauma-informed approach. Referrals to the Child & Youth Advocacy Center are received from the RCMP and Child and Family Services.
